Ryan Alexander
I spent 1 summer in the Bolduc lab as an undergraduate researcher (May – August 2010) and investigated the role of FoxO genes in learning and memory. I’ve recently defended my PhD in Neuroscience at McGill University where I’ve been studying activity-dependent plasticity of intrinsic excitability in cerebellar interneurons. Still working in the lab as a postdoc as I search for a postdoc position elsewhere. |
Stephanie Kainz
Stephanie joined RS Energy Group/Enverus in 2016 and is a member of the Midstream team. In addition to analyzing basin production, North American macro trends as influenced by production, basis differentials and midstream infrastructure, she supports the research team's tailored consulting and advisory service. Stephanie holds a Bachelor of Science in psychology and a Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting from the University of Alberta. |
Brent Chambers
I was one of the Bolduc lab’s first grad students. My Masters thesis was on the Molecular Basis of Memory Defects in Fragile X. I looked at the AKT-mTOR axis of the Insulin Receptor Pathway and the impacts that this branch had on the memory defects seen in Fragile X. After my time in the Bolduc lab I completed medical school at the U of A and now I am a Dermatology Resident at the University of Alberta. |
Joel Strautman
My MSc thesis in the lab was called, "The Study of Hereditary Spastic Paraplegia Genes Using Drosophila Homologues: Behavioural Insights". I’m currently working as a family doctor in Nanaimo, BC! |
Surya Madabattula
I was working on the Hereditary Spastic Paraplegia Project from 2012-2015. Then went to UBC for Dental School and currently I am a Dentist. |
Sarah McAvena
I designed The Memory Game as a part of my neuroscience undergraduate research project. I am currently completing my BSc in Radiation Therapy while doing undergraduate research at the Cross Cancer Institute. |
Kacy Doucet
I worked on the climbing project and another project on Social Behaviours in Drosophila. I don't know how much detail you're looking for but I developed a protocol for observing social behaviours and did a research project comparing social behaviours between different types of fragile x flies and wild type flies. Currently I'm working as a Research & Evaluation Coordinator in Addictions & Mental Health at AHS, and also I'm a visual artist :) |
Nicholas Raun
When I was in the lab I used tools like STRING, IPA, and Cytoscape to explore genotype-phenotype correlations from whole-exome sequencing data. My main project involved discovering genes in 1q43-q44 deletion syndrome that could contribute to microcephaly independent of an AKT3 deletion. Currently, I am a PhD student studying the function of histone methyltransferases in intellectual disability. |
Jiyeon Seo
The project I was working on looked at how the dialogue in a medical chatbot could be changed to increase rapport-building with the user. I was specifically interested in using politeness strategies to maximize the user's sense of agency and inclusion. I recently graduated from my Bachelor's degree in Neuroscience, and I will be starting the Occupational Therapy program at the UofA in Fall 2020 |
Easton Munchrath
Bolduc Lab Project title: A Drosophila Model of Intellectual Disability/Gut Interaction with Cognition in Fragile X Syndrome. I am currently a medical student at the University of Alberta. |
Chloe Lau
I primarily worked on the online memory test project via the AIHS summer studentship program in 2016. I am currently an incoming second year medical student at the University of Toronto. |
Tanvir Sajed
Right now, I am working for Huawei as an Artificial Intelligence Engineer. The project I was working on in the lab was CAMI and I was a masters student for Dr. Bolduc. I still havent finished the masters yet and I am wrapping up my thesis. |
Tatiana Ogourtsova
PhD OT Postdoctoral Fellow Chatbot project: Psychosocial team lead and patient-advisor liaison. Role: co-development of chatbot conversation/content/features; establishing the patient-advisory group |
Yonael Bekele
I worked on the Chatbot project with Dr. Bolduc as a Software Developer. I'm currently working at a marketing-tech and data startup as a Software Developer in Edmonton. |
Megan Pohl
Summer Research Student for the Chatbot Engagement Project. Currently an MSc student at the UofA. |
David Lotz
My project was titled Identifying Modifiers of Repetitive Behavior in a Drosophila Model of Fragile X syndrome where we used drosophila grooming as a model for repetitive behavior in Fragile X syndrome and tested this behavior in transheterozygote flies from crossing deficiency mutant flies with dfmr1 mutant flies to find potential modifier genes of the dfmr1 gene. I graduated after this past winter semester with my bachelor of science majoring in neuroscience after completing an undergraduate thesis project focused on using different behavioral tasks in a mouse model of stroke as a measure for sensorimotor impairment. |
Midhat Rizvi
Dr. Bolduc recruited me to work on a project titled: Canadian Network for Personalized Interventions in Intellectual Disability. I collaborated with geneticists, computer scientists and individuals affected by intellectual disability to develop a knowledge database application containing resources for individuals affected by intellectual disability. I also helped organize the 1st Alberta Neurodevelopmental Neuroscience Meeting. Now I am a master's student in the department of physiology at the University of Alberta and work for the city as a Program Leader for Persons with Disabilities. |
